George Nicholson

George joined Sterling Lord Literistic in 1995 as an Agent responsible for selling the work of writers and illustrators for children. Prior to joining SLL, he founded Delacorte Press Books for Young Readers and Yearling Books. He also served as Publisher of Books for Children and Young People at The Viking Press, as well as, Publisher of Bantam Doubleday Dell for Children.

Among his clients are: Tony Abbott, Barbara Bader, Joan Bauer, Cathleen Bell Michael Cart, Lois Duncan, Kevin Emerson, Alexandra Flinn, Patricia Reilly Giff, Jan Greenberg, Michael Harmon, Richard Jennings, Sandra Jordan, Peter Lerangis, Laura and Tom McNeal, Leonard Marcus, Walter Mayes, Harry Mazer, Rune Michaels, Roxane Orgill, K.M. Peyton, Alice Provensen, Deborah Kogan Ray, Susan Goldman Rubin, Michael Simmons, Terry Trueman and Zilpha Keatley Snyder, Nancy Wallace, Laurie Aurelia Williams, Sherri Winston, Lara Zeises. He also manages the literary estates of Vivien Alcock, Jeff Brown (Flat Stanley), Don Freeman, Leon Garfield, Hardie Gramatky (Little Toot), Howard Garis (Uncle Wiggily), and Lois Lenski, Leonard Weisgard. He is particularly interested in developing new writers in fiction and non-fiction for both YA and children.

He has taught and lectured widely, and published many articles about children's literature. Additionally, he has been for many years on the Board of The MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
